Quote of the Week – Be true to yourself

1243

We at Juliepatoolie’s fell in love with this beautiful print by Printable Wisdom. Their site is filled with wonderful quotes and whimsical artwork. They have a great bible verse section as well, which is a unique find. We had a great time flipping through their shop looking at all of the wall art, gift tags, calendars and more.

I chose this quote and think this is so applicable, especially in today’s world. TV ads, moves and magazines are constantly trying to show us who we should be or what we should look like – Being yourself and true to who you are as a person (morals, values, etc.) – is truly a huge accomplishment. Working with this bride was a real treat. Most days I am the one asking brides to envision my ideas for their invitation – but the tables turned when Jordan came by the shop.  She incorporated native plants found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina for her June Lake Lure Wedding. When I saw what she had drawn for the “wreath” on the save the dates and the elaborate forest scene on the vellum wrap – I was really blown away!  Working with this hands-on bride was a great partnership and I loved helping create a unique one of a kind invitation for Jordan.

The overall feel of the wedding could not have been captured better than by her photographer, Steve Exum (in his words)

“Friends and family trekked to this picturesque spot on a Lake Lure peninsula surrounded by Blue Ridge Mountains and summer vacationers paddle boarding by the scene….after a few extended family photographs the guest boarded a street car style trolley heading for the Lake Lure Inn and Spa. The historic inn was perfectly accented by the mountain meadow inspired floral arrangements of Mandy and her crew from An English Flower Cottage. The wedding party enjoyed a poolside cocktail hour as servers handed out scrumptious raspberry brie hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Photographers Steve Exum & Griffin Davis of Exum Photography composed their signature all wedding group photo on the poolside steps of the Inn.  Dinner followed with an incredible array of shrimp, mountain trout, gazpacho, fried green tomatoes, cheese trays, fresh fruit, and a roast station. Thanks to the sounds and energy of the Fantasy Band, this eclectic wedding congregation of Southerners and New Yorkers danced non-stop until the late night celebrations end. Jordan is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Roger Gant, III,  of Burlington, NC and Greg is the son of Paul Connuck and Lauren Weinberger of New York, NY. The crew at Exum Photography wishes Jordan and Greg a lifetime of adventure and happiness together. Photography by Steve Exum and Griffin Davis of Exum Photography (© Steve Exum at exumphoto.com)

Anatomy of an RSVP

 rsvprules
Time after time, brides ask me – how do I get people to RSVP?

There is no good answer. Today there are so many different ways to set up rsvp cards – even rsvp-ing to an email address or on a wedding website – but still the outcome is the same. Brides and moms spend a day calling all of the guests that have not responded – resulting in some awkward conversations. So, avoid the embarrassment and fill out the RSVP as soon as it arrives, your friend will thank you for it!
